From Tuesday, the density of vehicles at the junction dictates the change of signals. In other words, the traffic lights don’t operate on preset time, but they change depending on the pile-up of vehicles - slower if the line of vehicles is meandering; faster, if not - bringing order to the chaos.
Traditionally, signal lights operate to preset time.

But a new solarbased technology has revolutionised things, introducing a certain spontaneity in traffic lights, as if human!
Reportedly the first such gadget in the country, the new technology hopes to dispel the need for policemen at junctions to man traffic.
Says DCP (traffic) B.A. Poonacha, "The new age signal lights is a huge bonus." Police commissioner Bipin Gopalakrishna dedicated it to the public on Tuesday. Amar Singh Meena of Bharath Electronics was also present.
